Dillard & Katona has long been committed to providing excellent service to its clients. The firm also has a robust history within the local community.
Dillard & Katona traces its history back to A. Fleet Dillard. Born in 1912 in Essex County, A. Fleet Dillard earned a bachelor’s degree from Hampden Sydney College, attended Duke University Law School, and earned a law degree from the University of Richmond T.C. Williams School of Law in 1937. After graduating, he taught law school courses as an adjunct professor at T.C. Williams School of Law.
A. Fleet Dillard began his legal career in Tappahannock. He practiced law in Tappahannock until taking a position in Richmond as Assistant Director of the Division of Statutory Research and Drafting for the Commonwealth of Virginia. In this position, A. Fleet Dillard was instrumental in researching and drafting the laws of Virginia.
A. Fleet Dillard returned to Tappahannock in 1943, and served as Commonwealth’s Attorney for Essex County until 1945. After his service as Commonwealth’s Attorney, A. Fleet Dillard re-entered private practice and continued to practice law in Tappahannock until his retirement.
